* Comm. Sports bids state contingent farewell
In what seems to be a scare in the camp of Kogi contingent expected to attend the 6th edition of the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State, Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Adoza Bello has approved all necessary requirements needed for Team Kogi to participate in the biennial event.
It will be recalled that the 2021 NYG was initially scheduled to hold from 10th of October to 19th of October, but due to challenges from the host state, the date was shifted by some days to make amends.
Speaking with Sports writers Association of Nigeria during the departure of the state contingents,, the Kogi State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon. Idris Musa Oando disclose that the state government has made all necessary demands available to enable the participation of the state contingent.
According to him rumors roving round various social media about Kogi state contingent not participating in this year’s Games is false as neither the State Ministry of Youth and Sports or the state Sports Council made or issue any statement as regards that.
He further thanked the state government for the speedy response to the plight of the state contingent, promising that the state representatives will give their best in winning medals for the state.
While bidding the contingents farewell with a charge to raise the flag of the state high, Hon. Idris urged all athletes to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship as medalist would be rewarded immediately.
Hon. Idris further revealed that the state will be participating in 6 games which are; Chess, Table tennis, Tennis, Wrestling, Judo and Shooting.
