Kogi State Governor His Excellency Yahaya Bello has expressed shock over the demise of the Late 18th Fulani Emir of Zazzau and the Chairman of Zazzau Emirates and Kaduna State Emirate Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Idris CFR.
Governor Bello extends his condolences to the People and Government of Kaduna State over the loss of the revered father of the state who passed away on Sunday at the Military Hospital in Kaduna after a brief illness at the age of 84.
The Governor noted that although the royal father who was a thoroughbred School teacher with vast religious knowledge had relatively lived up to a good old age but his counsels and guidance would be greatly missed as he left at a very crucial time.
Bello described the late Emir as a man of peace and vast knowledge who was reputed for his peace initiatives and bridge-building efforts in the country.
He also commiserates with Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai ,saying the prime traditional ruler died when his wise counsel and peace initiatives not only in ancient Emirate Council but across Nigeria at large were still required.
He said the late Emir carried himself with dignity and grace commensurate with the magnificence of the traditional stool he occupied.
Governor Yahaya Bello noted that Dr Shehu Idris will no doubt, be greatly missed by family, as well as his numerous friends and admirers. He prayed that the Almighty God grant the Emirate Council and the people of Kaduna State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
