Police Unravel Hired Assassin That Killed, Nicholas Ofodile, Owner of Chucks Supermarket

Contrary to wide speculations and believe that Nicholas Ofidile, owner of popular Chucks Supermarket was killed by Kidnappers, the Police said following investigations, one culprits, Vincent Omogor, has been arrested in connection with his assassination.

Speaking with Journalists in his office, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba, while parading Twenty Eight Suspected criminal elements, said one of the perpetrators that assassinated Nicholas ofodile have been arrested.

He said the breakthrough was made following intelligence driven embarked upon by SARS, working in synergy with vigilantee group in Orehi, Kogi LGA, arrested Vincent Omogor, an indigene of Asaba, Delta State.

According to the CP Ede, the suspect confessed to the crime of assassination and mentioned his cohorts who are still at large that carried out the dasterdly act.

The Commissioner said investigation into the case to arrest the other perpetrators is still on, assured of the unrelenting efforts of the Police to make the state safe in the hands kidnappers.

Speaking with Newsmen, Vincent Omogor said an apprentice serving with Chucks Supermarket contracted them to kill Nicholas Ofodile, for refusing to give him money to treat his father who was sick.

He said his father later died, became angry that if Chucks had given him the money, his father would have lived, consequently, contracted them, give them his travel itinerary, which helped in the assassination.

INGRA Describes Attack On Anyigba Worshippers As Inhuman

The unprovoked and inhuman attack on religious gathering in Anyigba by persons suspected to be politicians is highly condemnable and callous.

The right to peaceful Assembly is guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution and these rights are fundamental and inalienable.

It is sacroscent that the Kogi state Government comes out to condemn this act and investigate the circumstance surrounding this unGodly action with the aim to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Our people must be free to express their views on whatsoever manner they chose as long as it is lawful and peaceful.
We condole the victims of this harrowing attack and pray for their speedy recovery.
Holigans and miscreants must never be allowed to use this peaceful protests to deprive us of our fundamental human rights.
The State Government must rise up to its constitutional duty of protecting the lives of the citizens of Kogi State.
His Excellency ALHAJI YAHAYA Adoza Bello should as a matter of urgency call for a stakeholders meeting in Dekina LGA with a view to arresting the deplorable security situation and holding this found wanting accountable to the State.

“REDOUBLE YOUR EFFORTS IN REVENUE GENERATION”, MUKADAM ASIWAJU CHARGES KGIRS STAFF

The Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, who doubles as the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, has lauded the commitment, dedication and hard work of the leadership and Staff of Lokoja I Area Tax Office of the Service in tax collection.

Hon. Asiwaju gave the commendation on Monday, 12th of October, 2020, when he paid a courtesy visit to the revenue office in Lokoja, Kogi State.

He urged the Staff to redouble their efforts to expand the collection base of the Service thereby boosting the IGR of the State, assuring that the likely challenges hindering their performance will be addressed as soon as possible.

The Interim Chairman, however, cautioned the Staff against ineptness to duty, noting that the Management will not tolerate lack of commitment from the Staffers, adding that the organisation is already engaging in ways to work out rewards for Staffers who are diligent to their duties through promotions and other incentives.

He thanked the Staff for their usual cooperation and understanding and urged them to be more committed in discharging their duties and responsibilities in tax collection.

The Area Tax Manager, Ibraheem Abdulazeez, who received the Committee Chairman, commended him and other members of the Committee for their efforts aimed at  repositioning the Service.

He explained the state of dilapidation of  offices in the Area, stressing that it has retarded the performance of staff in revenue generation.

He noted that most of the offices lack basic items such as tables, chairs, air conditioners and television, lamenting that the office building is almost pulling down as a result of several crevices on the wall.

Ibraheem Abdulazeez appealed to the Interim Chairman to help look into the condition of Lokoja I Area Tax Office as it is a clear evidence that some of the facilities which can enhance staff performance are lacking in the Office.

Responding to the appeals put forward by the Area Tax Manager, the Interim Committee Chairman promised to attend to the needs of the office with a view to enhance their performance in revenue generation.

Senior Special Assistant to Kogi Governor on Political Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has congratulated former Controller at Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr Bode Iluromi as he clocks 60.

Omoluabi also congratulated him on his retirement after meritorious service to fatherland, describing it as double celebration and remarkable achievement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the governor’s aide while expressing gratitude to God for such a personality as Engr. Iluromi in Okunland and Kogi in general, said his birthday and retirement radiates God’s faithfulness, grace and kindness.

“Engr. Iluromi’s selflessness, humility and candour which he distinguished himself for during his service years is unparalleled. His 60 years of age has been a collection of honour and integrity which saw him rise through the ranks in civil service and later became a Deputy Director at the Federal Ministry of Works from where he retired.

“He became a shoulder to cry unto for our people at times it mattered most. Apart from facilitating several roads construction in Okunland which impacted the people’s standard of living and brought about economic boom, he also facilitated numerous opportunities for our teeming youths at different sectors.

“Undoubtedly he is a role model in effective service, truthfulness, good behaviour, sound morality and service to humanity. His footprints of love for his people are visibly seen in the lives he has touched.

“His generosity and humanitarian gestures speaks to how much of heart of gold he is blessed with. He has demonstrated that he is a good ambassador of Kogi, and we are proud of him for retiring with his head high and clean bill of record” Omoluabi said.

While wishing Engr. Iluromi a happy birthday and fulfilling retirement age, Omoluabi urged him not to get tired of pressing for the good of his people using his influential voice and contacts. He enjoined Engr. Iluromi to use his wealth of experience, contacts and time to support Kogi government in her drive to move the state forward, especially in areas of infrastructural development and policy formulation and implementation.
