Most people are enamored to using the word “Very” instead of using the ideal word, though the word “Very” is normal to use but there are some perfect words to use instead of “Very”
The word “Very” is normally and always used to emphasize the exact meaning of something or someone. It’s always used to stress the meaning of something.
However, using the word “Very” too much could make our writing looks so bored and dull. But, avoid using the word “Very” and imbibe the act of using the ideal word instead.
For example; the word “Very Intelligent”- there’s an ideal word to use instead of using the word “Very Intelligent”, the word “Brilliant” could be used instead.
1. Bimpe is very intelligent – Bimpe is brilliant.
2. Kola and Ngozi are very intelligent – Kola and Ngozi brilliant.
Note: Presuming we are going to write an essay or perhaps letter, the word “Brilliant” is simple and clear to show the meaning of being “Very Intelligent”
Let’s take a look at some words to avoid in using the word “Very”:-

– very intelligent – brilliant
– very interesting – captivating
– very large – huge
– very lazy – indolent
– very little – tiny
– very long – extensive
– very long term – enduring
– very loose – stack
– very shy – timid
– very simple – basic
– very skinny – skeletal
– very small – petite
– very smart – intelligent
– very tired – exhausted
– very hideous – ugly
– very thirsty – parched
– very special – exceptional
– very busy – swamped
Avoiding the word “Very” in the middle of our day-to-day conversations would certainly make our simple and short.
And, I would exhort everyone to keep learning because learning never ends, and let’s endeavor to upgrade our English words to avoid being stagnant.
