“There is a tide in the affairs of men which when taken to the flood leads on to fortune.” ……..William Shakespeare

There is a time for stardom in the life of everyone who has attained certain status in the society; this kind of men could either be immortalized while alive or posthumously. As I often advocate, “The only feat that near immortality in this earthly life is a deed recorded in the papyrus of time. People may build monuments and castles and name them after an individual but these are perishable either by manmade destruction or by the cause of natural disaster, but deeds put in writing live beyond both man and natural assaults or destruction.”

This piece about Hon. Abdukareem Asuku Jamiu, the Chief of staff to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is to all intents and purposes meant to point to a very interesting personality worthy to be reckoned with and in a way espouse as a character which inspire emulation and positive force of fate.

It is true that a lot has been said about Chief Asuku, this ranges from his academic brilliancy, philanthropic dispositions and his selfless service. Nevertheless, there is a tide in his life that has consistently usher him to greatness and make him as a rare personality.

There is no gainsaying that he had encountered life’s storms and challenges of high waters of life but in all these, we have a man has also encountered fortunes and yet remain humane.

A man’s life is often defined by the kind of encounter he had in his journey of life. There are men who remain in misery today because they encountered certain men who were assigned to destroy destiny and to pull those who are struggling to succeed down and they are also men who are destiny helpers and lifters of men from misery to fortune. You may have encountered such men or by whisk of fate escaped their traps. Chief Asuku life’s tides drove him towards Governor Alh. Yahaya Bello; a helper of destiny and lifter of men from misery to fortune and by the virtue of such encounter his fortunes become more meaningful. This is an indication that we all need people like Alh. Yahya Bello in our life and this is often very hard to come by except by a divine arrangement.

One of the things which is not heard or often emphasize is Chief Asuku’s innate grace to escape misfortunes and his readiness to accept everyone irrespective of religious coloration, tribes, ethnicity, political affiliation and background; a man of absolute loyalty with an aversion to deceptions; Chief Asuku can never be associated with malicious obedience. This aversion to deceptions and falsehood has the ability to make him blunt and furious, as he does not condone any form of mischievous and malicious misdemeanor. It is not a surprise that like every GYB ardent loyalist, touching GYB is like touching the apple of his eyes and he often pursues things of interest that promote the image of GYB. This is beyond the fact that he holds a critical position as the Chief of Staff to the Governor, because life of passionate loyalty and selfless service is in him; it is innate and this is what set him apart.
